Golden Promise pale malt, made from the eponymous spring barley variety, is a UK classic. Historically the Scottish analog to English Maris Otter malts, Golden Promise is well used in any English or Scottish style ale. The sweet, robust malt flavor of Golden Promise has also made it a choice base malt for American IPAs, lagers, and several famous whiskeys.

Great malt, great 10 lb deal

This malt gives a nice full, bready flavor to a beer. I usually use it with 2-row and a little bit of Caramalt for my IPAs. Using as a single malt would probably create a very full English style ale.

It Lives up to a Golden Promise

Excellent Malt! Rich, Mellow, Sweet. Nothing like it. I use this for my Scottish Ales and some English Bitters. Also, a Gordon Strong Barley Wine is in the future. I'm sure it will be fantastic. ** Highly recommended! **

Highly recommended. I use this for most of my American pale ales and British bitters and Scottish 60-70/- brewing and really like it. Good for SMaSH brewing.

    Super pale, yet delicious malt!

I just made a summer pale ale hop bomb with this. 14 pounds in a 5 gallon batch. I thought it would be much much darker. To my surprise its probably one of the most pale beers Ive ever made. And it tastes delicious! I used it all by itself, with 4 different kinds of hops, 1 pound total. Not only can you still taste its honey nut cherrios-esque flavor through the whole pound of hops, but also it seems to compliment the hops flavor while standing out and making me think it would taste great if there werent any hops in it at all! I'll definitely be ordering more of this and experimenting further. If its this tasty on its own, then I can only imagine what it will be like paired with something else.
