    Great Aroma Hop

Posted by Matthew Lorfeld on 21st Jan 2017

I discovered this hop in an experimental brew that Schalfly put out. I loved the pine aroma in that beer. I just brewed my first batch and paired it with El Dorado. Along with the pine, I got nice citrus and bubblegum notes. It performs well as a late edition and leaves a clean finish.

    Didn't smell right

Posted by Geoff on 14th Mar 2016

I was very excited to receive this hop after reading the descriptors and reviews, but when I opened the bag on brew day.... it smelled "cheesy"! I used it sparingly in my brew, and have avoided dry hopping with it. Not sure if I just received a bad bag, or what!

Great finishing hop for American IPAs and Pales

Posted by Mike on 5th Jan 2016

I first used this hop when it was still EXP5256 and it's awesome. Super high oil content, so it's great for late additions and dry hop. I've blended it 1:1:1 with Apollo/Citra/Eureka as whirlpool and dry hop additions in both a session IPA and Double IPA and get a great tropical fruit, orange, dank beer with a little bit of pine on the back end. This hop was briefly sold as "Pinefruit", which is a very fitting description!

    The other reviews have it!

Posted by Kyle on 2nd Oct 2014

Like the other 2 reviewers said, a strong citrus/grapefruit note is prevalent but not overpowering. a comfortable resin/pine follows with the mint being a little hard to distinguish on the back end. I used 4oz in an IPA (.75 10min, 1.25 5min, and 2oz dryhop) and I love it. I will be trying to get more of this if it ever comes back in stock! what a deal!

I was wrong - not bad

Posted by Doug on 3rd Jul 2014

I wrote the review below that said this had a strong herbal component. Well the beer has settled down and the herbal is still there but a citrus has definitely poked through. This is not a bad hop after all. I felt obligated to correct myself. Sorry for the confusion.

    Very nice flavors

Did an IPA with just a huge whirlpool addition of these hops at 180 degrees for 20 minutes. Huge grapefruit juice flavor and aroma, a little bit of pine and dankness, and some mint in the after taste. Excellent grapefruit forward hop.

    not great

Posted by Doug on 8th Jun 2014

I bought these on a whim and made a hoppy 10 gallon batch. The description should start and end with strong herbal notes. I am not getting any citrus from this at all. I love farmhouse, and love that they have experimental hops, but I won't be buying more of this one.
