Farmhouse's IPA Yeast Blend

We took our favorite hazy IPA yeasts and created a blend that we use in house at our brewery Rock County Brewing Company.  We were blending this each time we brewed and after a discussion Omega was kind enough to put the blend together for us to share with all of you great homebrewers.  This is the first run of the blend and we are testing out as I write this but we would also like to get your feedback.  You can expect this to be a very citrus/fruit forward yeast blend that accentuates all the wonderful hazy IPA hops.  We start this at 68 and ramp to 70 on day 2 then 72 on day 3.  We typically dry hop day 3 @ 80-85% of expected attenuation, then let it finish out and dryhop again on day 5 or 6 after crashing.

  • Flocculation: Medium
  • Attenuation: 72-82%
  • Temperature Range: 65–72° F
  • Alcohol Tolerance: High
  • Pack Contains 150 Billion Cells

Solid Hazy IPAs time and time again!

Posted by andy on 19th Apr 2020

I got this yeast when it was first released and I just keep washing it and using it. My first one was Amarillo/Ekuanot/Azacca that I entered in my County fair Homebrew contest and took first in the IPA category. The second was Azacca/Citra/Cashmere strawberry/mango milkshake IPA that lasted 5 days in the keg due to its incredible tastiness and thirsty neighbors! 3rd was an orange creamsicle ipa with Amarillo and Mandarina Bavaria...as you can imagine it was totally great! I just brewed the 4th today as a request by my wife for a hazy and dankass ipa. You got it! Azacca/Columbus/Eureka! My basement smells fantastic already. This yeast really accentuates the fruitiness and tropical notes in hops. If you’re like me and a lot of other brewers, you love trying out new yeasts, but after I tried out lots of different stuff, I just keep coming back to this blend. Do it! You won’t regret it.

    Fantastic for NEIPA's

Great NEIPA yeast that pairs well with new style IPAs/ tropical hops. Worked magical with several Cryo DH's. Great attenuation - finishes quick and remains in suspension to give it that great IPA haze and mouth feel that pairs well with high grist mashes. Be unique and get some while it last! Thanks for sharing John!

    Fruity hazy yeast blend

Used this on a galaxy/vic secret IPA. Pitched at 62, hit 80% attenuation. Hazy and definitely pushes some tropical fruit to go along with the hops. Highly recommend this blend for NEIPAs.

    Amazing IPA blend!

This is a wonderful blend.....amazing attenuation, and fermentation is quick and well-ordered. An absolute citrus bomb that is very complimentary to so many of the modern hops we all love (I’m looking at you Citra and Galaxy!).....great pH performance in the fermenter which allows for large DH additions with minimal acidification needed. My favorite yeast for hazy IPA’s by far.......Super fresh pouches straight from the source - what are you waiting for?

    Meh...

Used in a NEIPA w/ Citra, Galaxy, Strata (4oz each - equally split across whirlpool & dryhop). Followed temp recommendations. Good fermenter - 81% attenuation. Aroma is spot on with the style and the hops used - taste it falls apart though....phenols that are not supposed to be in a NEIPA. Giving this beer to my brother. I am sticking with Conan for NEIPAs that I consume. YMMV though so....
